Even though Councils are required by law to provide “comprehensive” Library services, it is down to local decision makers what this actually means.
Some of Nottinghamshire’s Libraries have received substantial investment to improve facilities, but our overall Library budget has been slashed over the last few years. This means that the strain of cuts has been focused onto those Libraries overlooked for investment, places such as Radcliffe’s wonderful Library which has maintained services largely down to the goodwill and dedication of its brilliant staff and volunteers.
As Radcliffe expands, we should now take the opportunity to invest and improve facilities so that our Library can become a community hub in the heart of the village.
